OVERVIEW

Would you like to know how businesses use promotional pricing strategies to attract customers and increase short-term sales? In this interactive video, we follow Eddie the Elf, who manages a Christmas Shop in a major London shopping centre. With his lease running out at the end of January and loads of unsold toys, Eddie must put his knowledge of promotional pricing strategies into action.

Eddie starts with a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, which clears out over half of the remaining stock in a week. When sales slow down, he changes his promotional pricing strategy to offer 75% off all prices, resulting in a positive effect on sales. Eddie also offers bundle deals like 3 toys for £10 or 10 toys for £20. Finally, he makes up some mystery bags containing at least 10 toys each and sells them for £3 each.

By the end of this video, you'll learn how promotional pricing strategies can be used by businesses to attract customers and increase sales. Get ready to join Eddie and learn everything you need to know about the world of promotional pricing!

  • The interactive case study explores Pizza Express, a British multinational restaurant group founded in 1965. Despite generating revenues of £543 million in 2018, the company experienced financial difficulties due to a downturn in consumer demand for eating out. After the COVID pandemic forced restaurant closures in 2020, Pizza Express announced that it would not be reopening 67 of its restaurants and has since undergone a major restructuring process to reduce its debts.
