OVERVIEW

Are you interested in finding out how businesses have adapted as the world has changed? This video delves into the dynamic nature of businesses and their need to adjust to external influences in order to thrive. We'll break down external factors into four categories: legislation, environment, economy, and technology.

To illustrate these concepts, we'll follow the story of Lucy Yates, who opened a milkshake shop called The Yard in a popular seaside town. We'll explore how Lucy had to adapt to external factors that impacted her business, including government regulations that required her to provide new staff members with a document outlining their roles and responsibilities, the COVID-19 pandemic and government lockdowns, which prompted Lucy to offer milkshake deliveries through Deliveroo.

By the end of the video, you'll have a better understanding of how businesses have to be flexible and adapt to a changing world in order to succeed. Get ready to learn about the dynamic nature of businesses and how they navigate external challenges!

  • The interactive case study explores Lussmanns, a small independent chain of sustainable fish and grill restaurants that have achieved great success since its establishment in 2002. Lussmanns has won several accolades, including being part of the Sunday Times' list of the 100 Best Places to Eat in the UK. Despite facing the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, owner Andrei Lussmann changed his business model to an e-commerce site, which allowed the company to continue operating. Lussmanns delivered more than 100,000 food packages to its loyal customers and grew its workforce to 26 employees.
